However, I chose to use this fabulous wallpaper in a less common way, on the ceiling of my imaginary room trimmed out with beautiful mouldings and using a ceiling medallion as the base for a catchy light fixture, similar to this....
I wanted to create a dining nook with an updated traditional feel so when I found this rug, I knew combined with the wallpaper, it would do the trick for me....
I was also pretty smitten with the upholstered seat back on this banquette and thought I could replicate the look using a built in bench combined with a customizable headboard like this:
Here is what I came up with, I wish I could do this exact room in my home...too bad the colors are entirely different from everything else I have going on. Maybe that's part of what appeals to me, a total change of color story!
My
imaginary room would have a base of ebony stained hardwood floors and
creamy walls, and since I envision this being part of a large, open
kitchen/ family room area, tall windows dressed in striped panels would allow a great flow of light. Opposite the seating area would be a sideboard, perfect for serving and storing as well as additional chairs, all of it anchored by a bold piece of art.

Your moodboard is so pretty Cathy! I love that you used the wallpaper on the ceiling. The orange/coral accents are gorgeous. I can see why you want this room for yourself! I'd take it too!
ReplyDeleteGasp! I am in love with this room, Cathy!! So unexpected, great use of the wallpaper..I would never have thought to put it on the ceiling (slaps palm on forehead)!!! No wonder you want it in your house, I do too! I really like how you built up both sides of the room as two mood boards, definitely helps me envision the space more. That rug is beautiful, I love how it combines both the soft cool tone of the wallpaper with those warm, cozy shades. The banquette is awesome too and I like the sconces. You knocked it out of the ballpark on this one, girl! Thanks again for co-hosting (I sent you another email)!
ReplyDeleteGreat room, Cathy! I love the idea of the banquette and the rug is gorgeous. And yes, wallpaper on the ceiling is something special.
