After an initial consultation and some brainstorming over the particulars for each space, we were ready to search for rugs that would be the inspiration pieces in the designs. The photo below gives you the feel for the colors we are working with... green, sea-glass blue, pumpkin & gold. We found some amazing rugs at local retailer Sergenians, my go to place in Madison.
Today I am sharing the Rx for the Sun Room which opens up off of the kitchen. With a living room and a family room on the first floor of the home, this room had no real sense of purpose and was functioning as a catch-all space where the boys sometimes did homework and projects. Mostly it was a means to get outside.....
With windows on three walls and a beautiful backyard, the Sun Room had to have a happy vibe that would draw the family to hang out there, so this is what I came up with.....
Four chairs gathered round an upholstered ottoman, a bold, bright rug on the floor, upholstered cubes for additional seating, curtains to frame the view and soften things up and who wouldn't want to hang out here?! The room is taking shape, the rug and chairs are in and we are working on the other pieces, so stay tuned...
Hope you all had a great week-end. Ours was busy as usual with a day trip into Chicago for a surprise birthday party for a dear friend, several basketball games and time spent getting organized and ready to get back in the school/work groove that starts up today. Thanks for your visits and feedback last week, I plan to take your suggestions to heart and use them for improving my "Color of the Moment" and "Fresh Fabrics Friday" features. You guys are the best!
Does your room need a “prescription” for a change of decor, function or design?
If so please contact me, I would love to help your room feel better with a Design Concept Board or a complete Room Rx.
It's the sun room I've been dreaming about! How pretty Cathy and I can already see the vibe taking form into a family friendly reading nook/game room/hang out space that they are going to absolutely love! The curtains with the band at the bottom are going to be perfect and I love the inspiration rug and palette. Kudos friend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great plan! Very cheery. Love seeing how things are now without it being overly staged. Loving the colors that you chose.
ReplyDeleteI think this is going to be a fun space when you are done, Cathy. I love the additional seating ideas particularly with young kids and when they have their friends over. The colors are vibrant and will add cheeriness to the space.
