Last Fall I was emailed by a client looking for help with the portico addition to her Cape Cod style home. She had come across my CSIL's exterior update and knew that since her home was so similar, it was exactly the fix she needed to update her exterior and amp up her curb appeal.

Things were moving along fine until she realized that the small bump out created by the soffit and fascia could not be removed and would need to be worked around.
She was stuck and in her uncertainty about how to proceed, contacted me.
After a few emails and some shared photos, I was able to create a drawing detailing a plan for making the soffit bump out nearly invisible.
She also asked for my thoughts on a few other design details such as shutters, lighting and door color so I did a mock up with my ideas and sent her a list of paint colors to consider.
We then discussed all of this in a phone call.
As she worked out the final details of her plan, we shared several back and forth conversations via email. Time passed, a family trip and Thanksgiving kept her busy,
but the other day I got an email with this photo…..!
She did a fabulous job don't you think?
Can you tell where the bump out is???
The exterior update is not yet finished as come Spring there will be landscaping, brick pavers and shutters added as well as the completion of the trim painting. What a difference these changes have made in the meantime! BTW the gorgeous door is painted Sherwin William's Empire Gold.
I can't tell you how gratifying it is to see the results of a simple, cyber collaboration.
A long distance decorating partnership can definitely work. I have written about it previously here.
In this day and age of so much design inspiration being available on line, it is easy to get overwhelmed, but just as easy to find a designer who shares your aesthetic, so don't be afraid to reach out for help!
Many thanks to this lovely client who did just that and not only trusted me, but trusted her instincts in order to end up with a great result.
Just like you, life around here is busy these days! I am off to do some crafting with a couple of girlfriends and then there is the cookie baking that needs to happen. Tonight I will be attending a fun pop up event hosted by a lovely woman I have collaborated on a couple of client projects with.

Hope you all enjoy your week-end and all of it's festivities!
