Today I am fortunate to have a special, "Color of the Moment" post. I was approached by Arcadian Lighting with the generous offer of a guest post and when presented with the subject of decorating with avocado green I thought, "perfect, let's do it!"
Hi there, I'm Jessica! As writer for
Arcadian Lighting, I get to put together selections of inspiring interior design ideas, and share them with lovely bloggers, like Cathy. I'm delighted to be guest posting for her today because I'd like to share a few rooms that feature the quirky color avocado. The varying shades of an avocado provide an excellent starting point for inspired interiors. You could paint a whole wall a soft, yellowish green, or go for something less dramatic by adding an avocado colored
lighting fixture to a room. I hope you enjoy!
The brilliant yellow-green throughout this room is both energetic and chic. The color doesn't overwhelm the room because the walls and carpeting are a crisp, clean white, allowing the green accents to pop.
This cozy modern couch is a lovely shade of green, much like the outer color of an avocado. The color works perfectly with rustic, woodsy interiors.
A lighter green like the color of the inside of an avocado makes a completely different impression. This brightly colored couch goes well with the vibrant floral pillows and makes a very sunny atmosphere.
When a lighter green is used as a wall color, the result can be pretty invigorating and inviting. This dining room is perfectly charming, especially with the elegant
ceiling light.
If you're unsure of what colors could possibly be paired with avocado green, be assured that you are not limited to only whites and neutrals. The color is beautiful and rich against deep shades of blue, purple and the black of the
table lamps.
This living room features a more retro color scheme using avocado green. The light green accent wall picks up beautifully on the golden accents throughout the room.
The bright green tufted sofa in this room is perfectly at home with the vibrant colors and eclectic mix of styles.
I love classic striped wallpaper, and the unexpected shade of green really complements the crème white. The wall color also replicates the lovely aged colors of the vintage prints.

Thanks Jessica! You have done a great job casting avocado green in a new, stylish light. And speaking of light, how about this avocado green lamp I found on Arcadian's website....?
or this fabulous brass and black swing arm number? People this is a plug in! No need for an electrician to install!
Lots of great lighting over at Arcadian, be sure to take a peek!
Have a great day! Tomorrow I have a project to share so I hope you'll stop by.
Does your room need a “prescription” for a change of decor, function or design?
If so please contact me, I would love to help your room feel better with a Design Concept Board or a complete Room Rx.
I think I have a new favorite color, so fresh! The black swing arm is so classic and versatile, beautiful piece!
ReplyDeleteIt's a perfect color for spring too! I'm a big fan. And I also love that black swing arm lamp - a classic look.
ReplyDeleteI love the color...I had similar shades in my living and dining for several years. A couple of those larger couches are magnificent.
ReplyDeleteYou scared me with the title of this post as I was remembering the avocado appliances we had in the kitchen of the home I grew up in. Thankfully, the rest of the post turned out to be a welcome surprise!
ReplyDeleteYou really make it seem really easy with your presentation but I to find this matter to be really something that I think I'd by no means understand. It sort of feels too complicated and extremely broad for me. I'm taking a look ahead for your next put up, I'll try to get the grasp of it!
