10 Things: guest bedroom

Audience participation is good, I think I'll stick to it! Another little change though, when my husband suggested that I ask my readers to list something that they liked, he meant as the 10th thing. This week that's how I'll roll, so you will notice my list is only 9 long... you provide the 10th.

Here goes... this fresh, simple guest room caught my eye. I've made my list, looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Amelia Handegan via Architectural Digest

1) Crisp white, planked walls
2) Block printed fabrics
3) Black & white color scheme with a bit of blue
4) Crisp white bed linens
5) Curvy, dark headboards
6) Asian inspired bedside table
7) Upholstered ottoman in graphic fabric
8) Sisal flooring layered with black & white rug
9) Simple pillow arrangement on beds (looks like only 1)
10) ???

Bring it on!  I found I had to rein myself in so as to leave a few things for you all to see!

Does your room need a “prescription” for a change of decor, function or design? If so please contact me, I would love to help your room feel better with a Room Rx.

My #10 vote is for MOVEMENT! I think the designer did a great job of allowing your eye to move up and down with the pelmet and the pallet plank walls. And then the mirror and artwork along with the curve of the headboards. MOvement :)

Symmetry! From the statement pieces to the subtle lamps. Such a beautiful room!

I am gaga for coronets, especially over matching twin beds. I bought an Indian woodblock and I was thinking of printing my own fabric for this very purpose in my daughter's room.

I love all the patterns and graphic prints in the this. It's balanced with just enough white to not be overwhelming. So gorgeous!

10. Love that there's only one night stand...and the symmetry is wonderful! I just found your blog. I'm here in Madison too! I'll be back...you have some great posts!

I like the canopies of the beds and although I am not about strict symmetry this is appealing and is an easy way to create balance in a space. The b&w artwork is also great - carrying the color scheme up the walls, along with the canopy drapes. I have seen this room and loved it - the bedding reminds me of what I grew up with and some fabric, bedding, etc. I own. By the way, I am so excited that you get to meet Pam from Simple Details - lucky ladies!

I will admit that I don't like black and white decorating themes but this one looks softer and not too stark so it has changed my mind. The addition of blue and what looks like some gray gives the room a comfortable feel.----- Shannon
