A "pick me up" and some furniture for sale

Recently I consulted with a client looking to add window treatments and freshen up her Dining Room.  She had moved into her home a couple of years back and felt it was time to give her traditional style an infusion of "newness." Paint and flooring would all stay the same and in addition to window treatments, we explored how to update her furniture.  We settled on the fabric, style and hardware for the window treatments and I got to work.

With the confidence and ideas gained from our consultation, my client found just the furniture she was looking for to add comfort and zip to this room. A trestle table and parson's style chairs in a fun, leopard pattern warm up the room, giving it the updated look she hoped for. (My appologies for the photo quality....becoming more adept at taking photos is on my to do list for the near future, please bear with me in the meantime!)

Simple, french pleated panels in a paisley on a black ground, helped to frame the windows and play up the height of the ceilings. Just like adding accessories to your outfit, adding the right fabrics to a room can really create a finished look. The panels were sewn by a wonderful local seamstress, whom I worked with for the first time and are just beautiful down to the last detail. I will definitely be using her workroom again!

Now that my client has replaced her table, chairs and sideboard, she is trying to find a new home for her former pieces. If you are interested, you can see her listing on our local Madison Craigslist or contact me directly.  She is selling the cherry, Thomasville Collectors table, custom table pads, chairs (two are armchairs, four side) and sideboard as a set for $1400.  Everything is in like new condition.

There is lots of potential for a fresh look for this classic set, from making slipcovers or cushions for the chairs to painting the pieces or using everything separately. Check out these inspirations....

Are you a fan of the classic Windsor chair?

Does your room need a “prescription” for a change of decor, function or design
If so please contact me, I would love to help your room feel better with a Design Concept Board or a complete Room Rx.

The dining room looks so much cozier now. It's amazing what those changes did to this space - the new curtains just wrap that room all up so nicely. Nice job! I'm a huge fan of the Windsor chair - it's such a timeless piece. I bought a Windsor bench off of Craig's List and I love it! I'm debating on whether to paint it but for now it's remaining as-is.
