The "experts" say every room should have a touch of black in it. Is there anything more gorgeous than a bit of color paired with classic black and white....?

The look is crisp and exciting, maybe throw in a bit of zebra for some extra spice...

Mix it all together and do it up in a room....

Imagine... walls painted a rich, creamy white, the Greek Key fabric on luxurious panels paired with woven wood shades on the windows, some bold artwork on the walls...perfect!

Loving the layers and the flexibility of such a room, so easy to change, both seasonally and as your tastes evolve.
Thanks for all of your kind comments yesterday about the finished built-ins, it is just the thing that makes blogging so rewarding, the support of my friends! My husband noticed this phrase when reading the post: a break in the "wind." Did you notice? I just roared.... it takes a guy!
Does your room need a “prescription” for a change of decor, function or design? If so please contact me, I would love to help your room feel better with a Room Rx.

i always love black and white in other people's spaces but i can't live with it in my own. isn't that weird? but it looks awesome in other people's houses.
I am so doing this in my new house ;)
I've slowly been adding some black into our home - it needed it. I picked up an inexpensive black and white woven blanket from IKEA and I love it. And I think what you've put together here is great - I really love those chairs from PB with the bobbin details. Those built-ins are so great Cathy - I can't stop thinking about how nice they looked.
You're reading my mind today! I've been eyeing zebra rugs for awhile, I want one (I think)! :)
Love those rooms! Just my style!
Gorgeous inspiration. Black and white and a pop of color are classic and always look good!
I do love some touches of black and bigger amounts of white - but I'm not comfortable with black & white as the predominant color scheme.

Hi, Cathy! Woah, I'm late to the game, but those built-ins? Stunning!!! That room is so gorgeous now...and way more functional. I never would have had that vision that you did. So cool to see the sketch and then the finished product!!! That is one serious masterpiece:)
Love this color combo. I do like some black in every space...it kind of like grounds everything, while at the same time adding contrast that makes the other colors stand out even more. Plus I think it brings somewhat of a traditional, classic vibe to a room. Do you think dark brown/espresso counts as the same thing? Just realized some of my rooms have black as the dark base and some of them have dark brown. Hmmm.
Thanks for your sweet comments and great ideas about my friend Melissa's sunroom:) You are always thinking good thoughts!
