Pom Poms: Bookmarks, stems and other fun

Who doesn't get a kick out of pom poms? I wore them on my ice skates when I was a kid, one red and one red & white, mixed. Something about pom poms makes me happy, so seeing the numerous pom pom projects on Pinterest and around the blog world of late motivated me to give a couple a try. This is the perfect craft for a gal like me who has DIY-ADD because I can get 'em done in a sitting or two.

I made these adorable bookmarks using this tutorial from See Jane Blog.
I gave them out over the holidays when I felt the need to share a little happy cheer.
See Jane Blog

I saw these and found this tutorial on Dill Pickle Design,

and gave it my own twist by using sticks for stems and using them for a "Winter bouquet" in my dining room.

I even tied them on my lanterns.

I think tonight while I am whiling away the night watching The Bachelor, I will make some more pom poms.
I can use some on pillows like Cassie did...
Primitive and Proper

Or make key chains out of them using this tutorial .
 a pair and a spare

I could even even add a few to a scarf, like this lovely from Anthro...
(my version would be much less $$$!)

The best part? I have lots of yarn around the house from my failed attempts to revisit my knitting skills. Now that's what I call a cheap DIY!

Oh and did I tell you that I was partying over at Jennifer Rizzo's for her Pom Pom Party?
She made heart shaped pom poms....

I love that her Dad used to call them "dingle balls!" Head on over to Jennifer's blog for more pom pom  inspiration and goodness!!!

Does your room need a “prescription” for a change of decor, function or design? If so please contact me, I would love to help your room feel better with a Room Rx.

The bookmarks are so fun and the 'winter bouquet' is quite lovely. Love the cream color with the branches - perfect for a cozy winter look. Thanks for sharing.

I haven't made pop poms in ages. I had them on my skates, too. I did roller skating, not ice. I'm not watching the Bachelor this season. I don't find him "idiot behavior" worthy.

That was me deleting that last comment. D'oh!

What I was gonna say was that I love your white pom pom flowers (or is it pom-pon?) They are very ranunculus-y. I'd love to do an Anthro-hack and find a cute scarf that could use a few pom poms. And then I'd give it to you because you would definitely know how to rock it.

How fun! I can't say that I ever took much notice of pom poms, but I'm impressed with your project and how you've brought them into your holiday decor - look at you! ;) The bookmarks are such a fun idea too - would be a cute shower favor idea as well.

I love your winter bouquet - such a great idea to use sticks! My little girl loves pompoms too. Her friend made her one for her birthday and she hung it off her backpack. I think she'd love the bookmarks...

So cute, Cathy! Love the bookmarks!

PS. I was not too sure how I was going to feel about this season of the Bachelor. I almost tried not watching because I don't think I really like Sean all that much. But then I DVRed the first episode just for kicks, and of course I got sucked in again!!! I just can't resist all the drama:)

I like them in the white for winter. They remind me of snowballs.
