Room Rx: A Sweet Girl's Nursery - Reveal!

Drum roll please! "A Sweet Girl's Nursery" is finally pulled together, just in time as this wee little one should be arriving on the scene in the next couple of weeks! For my cousin Jesse, this was a labor of love, no detail to small to be considered, no project insurmountable, all done on a small budget. Jesse wisely chose to use a few pieces that she and her husband already owned (the rug, leather chair and ottoman, lamp and side table) which helped keep costs down. Added bonus? The rug created the beautiful and classic inspiration for the room.

Jesse and I had a ball working on the nursery together, all long distance, via phone, e-mail, facebook, i-chatting and texting, all without me ever setting foot in the space.Jesse is a lot like my CSIL in that if I give her and idea or direction, she runs with it.

And now.... another drum roll, here it is...!

The vintage prints were a find the Jesse had picked up early on, not sure how they would work in the room, but inspired by the scenes depicted and the colors.

How about the lovely, girly chandy?
And the perfect lamp, which belonged to our Grandma...

The gallery wall is so sweet, filled with embroidery hoops framing fabrics and vintage doilies, crocheted booties and bib, even a yarn wrapped letter, complete with a fabric flower from Jesse's wedding.

And just because a good reveal always gains perspective when you can see where the space began, here we are...before!

And my Design Concept Board, tweaked a few times to reflect a change of direction or two along the way.

And the lovely Mama to be....
proudly posing in her baby girl's room!

Many thanks to photographer extraordinaire,  Kelly Gorney for photographing the room and allowing me to use the photos here. Kelly has a beautiful blog where she shares photos from her shoots, check it out, the girl's got crazy talent! I'm guessing that this "Sweet Little Miss" will be appearing there after her newborn session....

If you missed anything about "A Sweet Girl's Nursery" along the way and want to know more about it and the projects done,  you can get caught up by starting here.
Move on to post #2.
Read about the DIY dresser/changing table.
And then the DIY Roman Shades,
and finally the DIY Crib Skirt.

As with any room, I am sure that things will evolve in this nursery once the special occupant arrives. One change already in the works is a built-in bookcase and radiator cover being built by a friend to go between the windows. I'll be sure to share once that is installed.
Thanks for following along in this Room Rx process, I am so proud of Jesse and how she was able to fulfill the vision for this nursery, great work girl!

I've been waiting for this reveal and the wait was worth it! This is a beautiful room. It's so feminine and pretty, yet doesn't scream "baby." It looks so classic and I love that she incorporated special family keepsakes as well.

Cathy, where the HELL were you when I was producing small humans and shoving them unceremoniously into a converted office? This is soooo beautiful, really. What a great room! (Oh, and notice how I didn't even say anything about how they grow up and make messes and start to stink and--god forbid--speak. The beauty of this room has transformed me into a Nice Person!)

Cathy, you (and your cousin) should be proud of this one! I love that rug which sets off the whole room and is inspiration for the color scheme. The embroidery hoops and the vintage prints are adorable. Lucky baby girl :)
