A couple of weeks ago I mentioned our plans to vacation in Colorado, disappointingly, Mother Nature conspired against us in the form of wildfires and extreme heat and we found ourselves changing those plans. So as of yesterday, our new plans in place, we are heading to Boston for a completely different kind of vacation. Instead of mountains, hiking and hot springs, we'll be immersing ourselves in city life, culture and history. Who knows, maybe we'll even sneak in a day at the beach!
No visit to a city such as Boston would be complete without consulting Design Sponge's City Guide, and the Boston guide does not disappoint, it is chock full of shopping, eating and sight seeing recommendations. Reading the guide, written by artist Jennifer Hill, I was intrigued by her work and inspired to share a few pieces of Boston art. Enjoy!

For any of you Boston locals or those who have traveled to, and love the city, I am all ears for any "do not miss" suggestions for things to do and see and places to eat!
As Arnold says "I'll be back!" I look forward to returning relaxed, rested and ready to catch up with all of you!

I have great memories of visiting Boston, Plymouth and the Cape as a kid. Before having our own kids, we stumbled upon Marblehead (near Salem) and fell in love. Definitely worth the short drive, if for nothing other than ogling the gorgeous homes.
Have a wonderful trip!
Too bad about your CO plans but Boston will not disappoint - a completely different type of trip. I've been to Boston a few times and it was really great. Lots to do and see - lots of shopping and historical sites to check out. I can't wait to hear all about it when you return. Have a great weekend Cathy!
My husband is from Boston, and his parents still live there. They live in Swampscott. Currently, there is an Adam Sandler movie being filmed in Swampscott (daddy 2) or something. Anyway, Faneuil Hall is a must. Marblehead is stunning. If you go stop and have lunch in the Old Town Marblehead section. Newbury Street is also fun to walk along.
So glad you're getting away. Ive never been to Boston so I can't wait to hear about it!
Have a lovely time.

JEALOUS! Boston is my favorite of favorites! :)
A couple restaurant suggestions: the Barking Crab has amazing seafood and a super fun atmosphere (but it REALLY busy. The Parish Cafe is right on Boylston Street, just off the park and is just so good. I'll be thinking of other recommendations too :)
Can't wait to hear all about your trip!
Do the Duck Boat Tour, visit the Aquarium and eat in the North End (if you like Italian food) at Giacomo's....tiny place but GREAT food!!
Oh Cathy! I hope you had/are having an amazing time. Boston is in my backyard and yet I still get that feeling of exhilaration every time I visit. Can't wait to see your pictures when you return.
I hope you are enjoying your trip to Boston, Cathy! I have just returned from a road trip to Philadelphia, Baltimore and DC - something new and different for us.
